Comments

An over layer of plaster and yellow paint that was removed from this bulto revealed the original paint used to create St. Joseph's clothing. The A.J. Santero is known for the use of muted tones of pink, orange and blue-green, illustrating probable influence from Mexican Rococo art. Bultos in A.J,'s style are distinctive in the use of reddish-brown paint, rather than black, for the hair a nd beards of saints. ( D. Pierce, 2002).
